My Version of Korean Army Soup- Budae Jjigae
Been making this soup almost every week now, its so simple and easy to put together. You can definitely make it your own and clean out the fridge and pantry while making it. I had a couple fish balls here and there, half a can of spam from the last time I made this, and a couple of mussels as well; put them all together with that spicy hot broth and ramen noodles, its soup-tastic =)
You can add different types of vegetables, but I ran out of veggies.
Ingredients
1/2 can of spam
3-4 mushrooms sliced
1 package enoki mushrooms
4-5 lobster balls
5-6 assorted fish cakes
4-5 open shell mussels
Ichiban ramen- chicken flavour
Korean paste
1 tbsp Gochugaru- korean chili flakes
1 tbsp Gochugang
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp mirin or chinese cooking wine
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1. In a shallow pan, I'm using a braising pan, add all the ingredients. Its nice to line them up around the pan, makes it look pretty.
2. In a small bowl, mix the ingredients for the korean paste. Pour over the ingredients in the pan.
3. Pour enough water over the ingredients but do not cover them completely.
4. Add the powder broth from the ichican package and bring everything to a boil.
4. Once boiling, add the ramen noodles. Once the noodles are cooked so will the rest of the ingredients.
5. Enjoy while its hot.
